The development of the concepts of the " living life " and the " full life " in the Russian philosophy from the second half of the XIXth century till the first decades of the XXth century follows the interest to the concept of the life's "essence" by the European philosophers in the XIXth century, specially by Schopenhauer. The works of Marcel Proust (1871-1922) and Ivan Bunin (1870-1953) provide a manifestation of the original elaboration of this concept. Proust's and Bunin's ideas offer considerable affinities and, at the same time, they vary from the conception of the "full life" as it was conceived particularly by Dostoievski and Tolstoi.
